What is Designology?

Designology’s unique founding combination of design and insights under one roof produces deeper, more actionable insights, and smarter brands. Our proprietary research platform, Pivot, was originally created as a digital shopping environment featuring customizable virtual shelf and eCommerce environments where we could put new product ideas in a retail environment complete with marketplace noise and competitive pressure, then recruit target consumers and watch how they shopped the category to uncover the strongest ideas and concepts.

But product testing was just the beginning. What we realized during initial testing was that the real magic was in Pivot’s ability to not just measure sales data, but to record the consumer’s behavior as they shopped and then instantly leverage those data points in our post-shopping survey to create a dynamic, behaviorally-based survey. This survey is instantly customized to each individual shopper by the actions taken as they shopped the category, to get at the “why” behind key moments in their shopper journey and unlock deeper level human insights.

This makes the Pivot platform extremely versatile, giving us the ability to map and study shopper journeys, recommend improvements to e-commerce taxonomy and functionality, optimize category assortment on physical or digital shelves, measure the impact of advertising, pricing and promotion, and evaluate the category impact of new innovations, package designs and on-pack communications in a real world, in-context environment.
